i'm thankful for waking up and being able to see yet another beautiful day God crafted just for... "us." i won't complain today b/c it'll warrant me nothing.

it's a beautiful memorial -- it holds a special place in my heart (i've had the great honor of working on two performance art pieces involving this site). i count my blessings daily and remember that i am indebted to those who suffered for those blessings. may their souls come to peace.

Sankofa
"se wo were fi na wosan kofa a yenki."

translated it means "it is not taboo to go back and fetch what you forgot".

Give thanks for posting this sistren. My heart is warmed by knowing that we and the world can remember the struggles that my ancestors had to face. That memorial will be yet another symbol of my history.
